This week we witnessed our nation experience a monumental catastrophe as Hurricane Helene made landfall, decimating entire cities and leaving ruins in her wake. At times like this, we are reminded to be grateful for what we have in terms of comfort, safety, shelter, and more.
First, I want you to get your own bearings. Take a deep breath, look around, and appreciate your surroundings. Appreciate what you use and see every day. Appreciate the warmth of your home, the shoes on your feet, the device you’re using to read this message. Appreciate the people you see every day and the ones you see only once every few years. Appreciate everything. Give yourself some time for gratitude.
Now imagine for a moment what it might look like and feel like if everything in front of you were just… gone. Imagine the little comforts we all take for granted were no longer ours. Imagine our transportation, our beds, our homes, and my God even some of our loved ones were suddenly wrenched away from us.
Next, I want you to consider what you could and would do for the people who are currently living this nightmare if time and money were no concern. Where would your heart take you? Would you be compelled to roll up your sleeves and help with cleanup? Would you write a fat check to help pay for the billions of dollars needed to help these people recreate some semblance of their previous lives? What would you do? If you’re like me, the answer is ‘anything’. If you’re also like me, ‘anything’ isn’t possible. I have good news though.
‘Something’ is possible.
See, if each of us were to donate just one dollar to help those in need, we could make an astronomical impact. Please take some time to read below about KW Cares and how our company takes care of our own.
