Frawley Coaching

March 15, 2026

I had a wonderful opportunity to tour some breathtaking estates on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee this weekend, so Nate and I decided to make a weekend of it. We intended to head back yesterday but thought better of it and booked a hotel in Madison. Looking outside this morning, it appears we aren’t going anywhere yet. We live here now. This is our life. Greetings from the other side of Wisconsin! (Kidding! Kidding. I can’t wait to get home.)

Speaking of detours…
Over the course of the past few weeks I’ve had epiphany after epiphany, and as I noodle through this newfound clarity, I’m finding a comon thread that keeps showing up: simplicity. I know I’m not alone in this. I sometimes work harder to find the shortcut or easy button, and I end up putting in more thought and energy than if I would have just put in the intended work to begin with. Having a plan to get from point A to B might just be as simple as a straight line, and it doesn’t always require a new spreadhseet.

What is your biggest challenge right now? What are you building? What are you fired up about? What’s heaviest on your heart?

Now let me ask you this: is it possible, (even just a tiny bit), that somewhere, somehow, you might be over-thinking, over-doing, or over-complicating whatever it is that is taking up your attention right now?  Be real: Is ‘prep’ sometimes taking longer than it should?

If any of this is striking a chord, go deeper. Understanding the source of disruption is how we will be better equipped to recognize when it shows up again. Ask yourself what is so important about the detours. Why are they showing up? What are we hiding from? What are we avoiding?  We need to lean into those discomforts if we want to make real change in in our life and business, because it’s about more than the detour. It’s about what we’re turning away from.

If you find that more than 20% of your lead gen time is spent cherry-picking your call list, this is for you. If you’ve ever meant to look up a contact’s social media and lost an hour to doom-scrolling, this is for you. If you’ve ever wanted to start a neighborhood farm, write an email  campaign, or place an ad and you kept kicking the can down the road because you felt like you needed to do more ‘reasearch’… This is totally for you.

Simplify. Strip it down to the studs if you have to. We have massive amounts of technology designed to make our lives easier, and even that can slow us down because of all the shiny sidequests available to us. Gary Keller started a billion dollar machine in a neighborhood he wasn’t familiary with with nothing but a Roldex and an open mind. Remember that next time you find yourself ‘getting ready to get ready.’

We’ll hopefully be making it back into MN by this afternoon, depending on the road conditions. In the meantime, I’ll be taking full advantage of the hotel coffee and wifi until we can shove off and head homeward. Wish us luck!

Drive safe if you must go out today, and stay warm.

Onward,
Coach Lins

Please read carefully when I write this with love and when I say it with my whole chest: Don’t make yourself a victim of burnout later because you’re too busy to regulate your boundaries and priorities today.  The spring market is well in swing and we’re getting a taste for what the Summer will be bringing us here in 2026.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had several coaching calls where the theme has been the same: “I don’t even know where to start.” The reasons of course are varied. Seasonality in our businesses. Political unrest. Market shifts. Family demands. A news cycle that never sleeps. A phone that never stops buzzing. It’s not just one thing — it’s the cumulative weight of everything.

There’s a conversation I have at least once a week: An agent tells me, “I’m calling my database. I’m reaching out. I’m staying in touch. But I’m not getting any referrals.” I always think the same thing: If you’re talking to people and nothing is coming back, one of two things is happening.

Paul McCartney talked about the early days of The Beatles and how getting hits meant real money. He and John Lennon used to joke about writing a song that would literally pay for a swimming pool, because that’s the sort of thing they dreamed of being able to afford when they were working-class kids with no jobs. “Somebody said to me, ‘But the Beatles were anti-materialistic.’ That’s a huge myth. John and I literally used to sit down and say, ‘Now let’s write a swimming pool.’”

Here’s a friendly reminder to go visit your goals, my friends. Not just to make sure you’re on target this year, but also to make sure you placed the right bets from the start.
